I’M BACK!! Stag/wedding celebrations and more!

Hey guys! I’ve missed you all so much! How’re you doing?

The last week and a half has been so crazy for me with my best friends wedding celebrations and some holiday time in France again. He also decided to have a spontaneous get together/ stag do on the night before the wedding too, so that was super fun! I thought I’d quickly share with you my time there and in the next few days post a guide to organising your perfect wedding! (Especially for all you women out there that have been planning since you were a little girl) So stay tuned later in the week for more!

The bachelor party

Now I should make it clear that when I say bachelor party, I am not referring to the typical kind of get together you normally see. This had not been planned out, it was more so a spontaneous rally of everyone getting together late one night. As the groom was incredibly busy all week organising the hall, music etc. none of us believed he would have much time for anything else – until it came to the evening before the big day.

Of course with it being his last day as a single man, he adapted a sort of f*** it attitude (who doesn’t?!) and gathered all his friends into a series of gardens behind the French cottages we were staying in. Everyone then spontaneously threw themselves into the pool in the pitch black and freezing cold water whilst passing around a bottle of polish vodka. I will admit that the water was a bit of a shock to the system as it wasn’t warm at all, but it was honestly so much fun! Plus one of the guys got himself absolutely hammered and came out with some very amusing comments towards the end of the night!

Finally, after none of us could stand the cold anymore, we headed back to the cottages in darkness for more vodka/ tea and coffee, and I warmed my feet under the shower for a little bit. We started playing some music there too and it was lovely to sit and chill into the early hours of the morning.

The wedding do!

The next day was a little bit frantic to get ready for but we when we finally got there, it was really lovely. It was a typical french wedding with a mairie (signing of the marriage contract), followed by the church, reception and then the evening meal and party! There were quite a few intense moments in the church where the groom stuttered over the vows (he gains a stammer in front of an audience) and everyone believed his mother would stand up and object, but it was all alright in the end! Phew!

The reception afterwards was lovely too. There were several toasts and speeches in between each course of the meal, and everyone got up and danced as well. The bride and groom had even asked one of their friends to come and teach line dancing to everyone. I was a tad hesitant at first, but it was so much fun towards the end with everyone running around frantically to the music!

The couple then ended the night with everyone forming an archway of sparklers for them to walk underneath – it was such a magical way to see them off to their honeymoon πŸ™‚ What an amazing end to the night it was!

Stories of Paris: The man who could walk through walls

Hey everyone! How are you doing?

Somehow this week has gone so fast I can’t believe it! The man that my mum was seeing made some pretty awful comments about her and so she decided to end it – it’s definitely for the best. It’s a such a shame I can’t comfort her now I’m going away for a week, but I guess I’ll just have to be there for her when I return πŸ™‚ Other than that, I’m honestly so excited to have a week away! I really need a nice break and it will be amazing to watch my best friend get married whilst we’re out there πŸ˜€ Hope you’re taking advantage of the summer holidays too?

I’ll stop rambling on now and get back to the post… here is a really interesting story I heard whilst roaming the streets of Montmartre in Paris…

The man who could walk through walls

On the last day, mum and I decided to explore Montmartre and the area around our hotel. Surprisingly enough we hadn’t had the chance up until this point and so wanted to see some beautiful non-tourist spots. The area of Montmartre is lovely and we soon found ourselves following a guided tour towards Sacre Coeur.

On the way up the hill you can find the famous Dutilleul a.k.a. the ‘passer-through-walls’. The guide started revealing a story about the office worker that developed the ability to walk through walls as his title suggests. The man grew up and lived in Montmartre, only to discover this ability at age fourty three. After seeing the doctor regarding his condition, Dutilleul was prescribed a strong medication and told to make his life more labour intensive – much to his disappointment. He refused the medication and kept his lifestyle reasonably inactive and relaxed, still with no inclination to use his talent.

A few months passed and Dutilleul became infuriated with a new manager at his work. By passing through brick walls, he finally decided to begin playing tricks on his manager’s mind; driving him into an early retirement and mental institute. It doesn’t stop there either – the office worker embarked on missions to rob banks and jewellery stores to make extra cash. He used red chalk to mark ‘The Lone Wolf’ on his crime scenes and then swiftly escape through the wall, making his work the talk of the town. However, this was not enough for Dutilleul; he enjoyed fame as much as his fortune. So one day, he ensured the police caught him and threw him into a cell. Little did they realise that he used his ability to frustrate his jailers and repeatedly escape.

The story ends with Dutilleul beginning to secretly date and fall in love with a married woman, whom her husband locked in her room every night. Thankfully, this did not stop the couple and Dutilleul used his power to visit his lover every night. Until one morning when he experienced a bad headache and took two pills from inside his bedside cabinet. His headache went away, but later that night a sudden resistance prevented him from walking through his lover’s door. The story recounts that the pills Dutilleul had in fact taken, were the ones the doctor prescribed many months ago. He realised his mistake far too late and slowly became trapped inside the wall, where he remains to this day.

Really hope you all enjoyed reading!

The Self-Esteem Tag part 2

freedom eso

Hey guys! How are you doing today?

I’m in quite a good mood today because I received an email from the university to say that my place on the masters postgraduate degree has been confirmed! I honestly can’t believe it! I applied a week ago and haven’t mentioned anything to my friends or family in case I wasn’t offered a place. But it’s officially come through now and I have been asked to either accept or decline in the next two weeks! ARGH… big decision to make. I may have to start a pro con list or something… do you have any advice on this at all?

It was also my cousin’s birthday yesterday and as I mentioned in myΒ last post, I was absolutely dreading it because of a rude family member. Safe to say, I could not see straight for the amount of alcohol drunk before going around to their house. My mum and I made strawberry daquiris and kept the prosecco flowing too just so we could bear to be there! But as I’ve mentioned before, I’m guessing everyone has a hated family member or friend that is rude at events like this, am I right? πŸ™‚

Anyway, time to get down to the tag!

My answers continued…

When do you feel most attractive?

Definitely on a date night or night out with my friends when I get super dressed up and throw on a nice pair of heels πŸ™‚

What are you passionate about?

Travelling and helping other people at the same time, so if I can somehow find a job doing both of these things then that would be a dream come true!

I also have a really strong passion for Biology as some as you may know. David Attenborough is amongst celebrities whom I idealise and strive to be more like. I really want to push myself to uncover new scientific discoveries and do anything I can for the community along the way too.

Who is the most supportive figure in your life?

Easily my mum. She has been there from the beginning through thick and thin, and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without her. Every time I have felt down about myself she has always done lots of little things to cheer me up πŸ™‚ For me, it’s more about the quality time you spend with a person than the materialistic items. Someone could come along tomorrow and invest one million pounds in a business for me and I would still see my mum as the more supportive person for cheering me on.

What are you most proud of about yourself?

Looking back on the past few years, I am proud of how far I’ve come. Each experience, whether that has been uni or my family life has really allowed me to develop and learn important life lessons. The ups and downs have made me who I am today and I wouldn’t change any of it πŸ™‚

Do you feel good about yourself today?

Yes and no. I feel so happy about getting through the dinner yesterday and being accepted onto the course. However at the same time, the relationship I have with my boyfriend is incredibly rocky right now. We don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things and some of his comments recently have upset me quite a bit, but I guess we’ll see what the future holds!

This tag has actually noticeably improved my mood so thank you so much again for the tagΒ Laura!

The Self-Esteem Tag

Hello everyone! How are you doing today?

I feel like I’ve been so busy lately that this blog has taken a hit and not been given my full attention, so I will try my best to be on it over the next few days! My cousin’s birthday get-together is tomorrow… but other than that I’ll make sure to give you all more posts this week! πŸ™‚

Long story short… I am absolutely dreading tomorrow… my uncle’s sister always invites herself around to family gatherings when she’s not wanted and belittles everyone in her path. If you haven’t got a PhD in snobbery or met the queen, then you’re not worth anything in her eyes. It’s sad that she judges people on awards and certificates (that collect dust) rather than the personality and kindness of a person instead. But I guess it wouldn’t be a family get together without hiccups right? I’m sure everyone can relate to this in one way or another!

Anyway…for this tag I’ve been nominated by the very creativeΒ Laura. I’ve been following her blog for quite some time now and she always comes out with lots of thought-provoking and beautiful stuff. Be sure to follow if you haven’t already πŸ™‚

Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you & link to their blog
  • Answer the 10 questions

Answers

What is one facial or physical feature you like most about yourself?

That would have to be my eyes – lots of people say how blue they are and even assume I’m wearing contacts from time to time. Or I guess I could say my legs because of how incredibly long they are, but it can be frustrating not being able to find jeans long enough, so I’ll stick to eyes πŸ™‚

What values are most important to you?

I guess I would say being able to trust someone really close to you. Having being let down in the past by the ones you love makes you realise how important reliability is. Showing compassion and caring towards others, and of course being able to laugh with friends is super important too πŸ˜›

What is one personality trait that you like most about yourself?

Probably the fact that I’m very determined to succeed. I really want to have a good future and will do pretty much anything (other than screwing people over) to get it. I would consider myself a caring person too – being loyal to the people who are always there for me is something that comes naturally.

What is your definition of beautiful?

People with amazing personalities. It’s such a cliche, but looks will eventually fade, your personality won’t. I absolutely love kind, intelligent people that aren’t afraid to have a laugh on occasion. The people that will ring me up at 3 am and come over to check that I’m okay, or the spontaneous trips out to go crash a party, go jet skiing, or travel up the coast. You get the idea…

What is the last thing you did that made you smile or laugh?

I had to think then because it feels like a while since I’ve laughed properly. Watching Basil on Faulty Towers a week ago was funny for me. I followed the programme when I was little and staying the night at my granddads – the series is so light-hearted and hilarious at times! πŸ™‚

That’s all for now folks! Hope you’ve enjoyed reading and I’ll be back again tomorrow with the other half of this post and my nominees. Goodnight and sweet dreams ❀

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS!!

Β Screenshot_20170716-235033.png

Hey everyone!

Sorry it’s been a while, but I’ve been celebrating my birthday this weekend! I finally had my hair done a slightly more blonde/caramel colour yesterday and went out for tapas too. Today has been even more crazy with all the family coming around for a huge meal and cake. It’s been so nice to see them all again now they’re back from their holidays and I’m so thankful for everything they bought me as well πŸ™‚

So…yeah…I’ve realised I will have to update my age on these pages, but I’m officially 22!! πŸ˜€ *insert overused Taylor Swift reference regarding my age here*

How has your weekend been? and what was the best birthday present you’ve ever received?
